Sources of Lung Cancer

Chemotherapy basically means use of medication to kill cancer or to control the growth of cancer. Cancer cell divides rapidly in the human body. These cells are allergic to medication but during the treatment procedure there are certain healthy cells in human body which are exposed leading to some side effects in patients. There are several chemotherapy operations depending upon the type of cancer. The patients can be treated in several session’s, each session may last for a week or two depending on how well the cancer cells respond to chemotherapy. This is the reason why chemotherapy is called as systematic treatment. It can be performed either before or after surgery depending on the need of treatment. It helps to shrink tumor before surgery and can be applied to control the growth of cancer after surgery. Side effects of chemotherapy are controllable, but certain factors such as age, sex and general medication determines the level of such side effects. Therefore patients must maintain an healthy diet and physical fitness so that they will be able to fight these side effects better.

Most of the cancer during initial stage was identified on a routine CT scan and chest X-ray. Growth of cancer and encroachment of lung tissue may interfere with breathing leading to continuous cough, wheezing, chest pain, coughing up blood, and it may even lead to shoulder pain if cancer has invaded the nerve .on the other hand if cancer had spread to brain it may lead to stroke and headache. It is found that the survival rate of person affected with lung cancer increases the earlier it is caught. Later stage survival rates found to be decreasing however there are certain treatment like chemotherapy and radiotherapy where it can extend the year of survival and can provide some comfort to patient.
